Artists and Friends of Rebecca Kelly Ballet
nile apaayana NILE BAKER originally from California, moved to Michigan and trained at the O’Day School of Dance in Detroit, with Sergey Rayevskiy at the Academy of Russian Classical Ballet in Novi, at Wayne State University,  and the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He holds a BFA from the Ailey School/Fordham University.  Nile is currently performing at the Metropolitan Opera in productions of Don Giovanni and Madame Butterfly, and will be appearing in the 2013 production of Rigoletto.  Nile also works with Bradley Shelver Contemporary Dance Theater.
Gio Turb

GIORGIA BOVO from Italy, was on scholarship at Scuola del Balletto di Toscana, in Florence, appearing with the Junior Company. She performed with Kaos-Balletto di Firenze. Since she moved in the U.S. in 2007, she worked with Thomas/Ortiz Dance, Eryc Taylor Dance Armitage Gone! Dance, Indelible, and Bradley Shelver. Giorgia has participated in many RKB’s annual Highlights of the Nutcracker appearing in the Marzipan and Arabian solos, and the Snow Pas created by Kelly.

She was part of the original cast of Design-into-Dance. Her RKB repertoire includes Writing in Water, Desire, The Travelers, Long Time Passing, and Apayaana.

Desire Robin  

ROBIN CANTRELL from St. Paul Minnesota, received her training at Midwest Youth Dance Theatre.  She holds a BFA from the University of Utah in ballet performance, and a degree in anthropology.  Robin danced for City Ballet of San Diego, where she performed in a number of Balanchine ballets, including the lead violin in Concerto Barocco.  Robin has danced with Ballet Deviare and Pascal Rioult Dance Theatre, and currently dances for Battery Dance Company. She is experimenting with site specific dance films and working on her worldwide outreach project, TCDC. She joined RKB in 2008. Her repertoire includes Writing in Water, Tear of the Clouds, Desire, and The Travelers. RK created the solo variation roles Russian and Chinese for Robin in RKB's Nutcracker Highlights project.

Raul Air solo

 

RAUL PEINADO from Madrid, Spain trained at Victor Ullate School and The Catedra Alicia Alonso  Raul studied with Master Ullate, Christina Alverez and Juana Taft. He has performed with the Cuban National Ballet as a guest. the Joffrey Ballet Ensemble, and Peridance Ensemble, Eglevsky Ballet, Gwinnet Ballet Theater, Ruth Michel Dance Theater, Andalusia Ballet, South West Virginia Ballet,  Mobile Ballet, and Configuration Dance in USA, and with the Fukuoka International Ballet in Japan. Raul has appeared frequently in RKB's annual Highlights of the Nutcracker appearing as Therese Wendler's parnter in the Grand Pas.

His first season with Rebecca Kelly Ballet was 2007. His repertoire includes Air, Long Time Passing, Tear of the Clouds, Spice, Desire, La Belle and Le Bad Boy and Apayaana. He has been a masterclass teacher in RKB's Onstage Summer Program teaching partnering and salsa workshops and classical technique.

 


THERESE MIYOSHI WENDLER from Honolulu, Hawaii, trained in Phoenix, AZ with Nina Marlow, and The Joffrey Ballet in NYC. She has since worked with Ballet Metropolitan of Caracas, Venezuela, Ballet International, Ballet Hawaii, Victoria Ballet Theatre, Connecticut Ballet, Ballet Jorgen Canada, and Frances Patrelle and Mathew Brookoff. Therese joined RKB in 2003. Her extensive RKB repertory includes principal roles in the original cast of Jose's Dream, Silver Circles, and Air, along with Reves, Spice Suite, Drums, The Travelers, Jibun Jishin, Those Who Must Be Kept, Waters. Desire, La Belle and Le Bad Boy and Apayaana.

Therese has appeared frequently in RKB's annual Highlights of the Nutcracker appearing as Kelly's Snow Queen, and as the Sugar Plum Fairy.

Therese teaches in RKB Intensives and Variations Program, and provides private coaching. She stages Kelly's youth ballets for RKB's Onstage summer programs. She also teaches independently in the NYC metropolitan area.

Guest Artist: JARED MATTHEWS Soloist, American Ballet Theater, was a featured dancer in Kelly's ballet noir THE TRAVELERS for RKBs 25th Anniversary season.


Duncan

Guest Artist: DUNCAN COOPER, former Principal Dancer, Dance Theater of Harlem. from New York City and San Francisco. Duncan partnered Therese Wendler for SILVER CIRCLES, after the fall, at RKB 25th Anniversary season, and as her Cavalier in several Nutcracker Ballet Guest Artist appearances.
