TWEENS: The serious study of classical ballet begins between 8-12 years old, when some students begin to be physically and mentally ready for the discipline, strenuous work, as well as the math of ballet. The age at which classical instruction begins is not as important as making a good start with a good teacher, and being able to concentrate on the activities. Only regular participation, persistence, and much repetition and practice makes a dancer, but there are many additional benefits to the study of dance that produce good habits for life.

More about THE TEEN PROGRAM at REBECCA KELLY BALLET in Soho

Demanding and hard work, RKB's ongoing technique classes, Winter and Summer Technique Intensives, Choreography Workshops, Master Series or Onstage Performance Camps, and Teen Company provide a broadranging creative program that inspires and encourages the beginner through the pre-professional level dance student. RKB nurtures the link between an accessible experience of dance as it matures into a keen appreciation for the performing arts.

RKB offeres a realistic program for motivated but busy students who have many academic demands and outside interests, but who also love to dance. Classes can be taken on a once or twice weekly basis, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, as well as in private coaching sessions, and in a Dance Fitness program. Modern Dance Technique provides skill building activities for body and mind in dynamic classes with plenty of individual guidance. Based on RKB contemporary technique using spirals, undulations, corps strength with classical lines, training promotes flexibility and endurance. OPEN STUDIO PRESENTATIONS and reception. Call for reservations: 212-431-8489.

The Teen Company performs during the Winter/ Spring semester.
Performance for Teens
, directed by Rebecca Kelly, provides increasingly technical training, as well as a choreographic approach to learning dance for the highly motivated student, with emphasis on "performance." Admission is by teacher evaluation in initial class.

Tailored workout sessions for small groups of non-dancer adults? Call to discuss
