Kelly Ballet's upcoming performances
“Unabashedly lyrical yet still overtly contemporary,”
|
Based in New York City and the upstate Adirondack Mountains, Rebecca Kelly Ballet brings to the stage a repertory full of stylish, broad ranging works including topical and environmental themes, narratives, a distillation of the classics, as well as abstract and edgy designs. The company is compact in size by conventional ballet standards. Perhaps that is why each performance is so personal. Kelly brings out the absolute essence of each of her dancers with nuance and skill. The season promises a riveting evening of freshness and style in ballets that provoke,
intrigue, and tell stories. PROGRAM: Three New York City Premieres, One Revival Adirondack Elemental - Earth, Air, Waters featuring solo scores by three composers, for harp, cello and flute. Tear of the Clouds (1989) the warning of effects of acid rain, One of the first of Kelly's large body of works which take their theme from the environment April 24, (Gala 7:30pm) and Fri, 25,Sat, 8pm 2008 |
